OPTA WELCOMES 6 NEW MEMBERS

Last week, the Organic Processing and Trade Association Europe (OPTA) welcomed six new members at the Open Dialogue Day event in Ungurpilis, Latvia. The new members are excited to join OPTA’s mission to strengthen the organic sector in Europe. With a total of 18 members across 6 countries, OPTA is proud to bring together and represent the main players in the organic processing and trade sector in Europe.

Last week, OPTA organized an Open Dialgue day in Ungurpilis, Latvia. At this meeting, OPTA welcomed six new member companies (Balkanfruit, Berrico FoodCompany, Spack, Global Organics, Organic Flavor Company and Rhumveld). The new companies recognize the potential of OPTA to improve cooperation within the organic sector, support organic policy making in Brussels and encourage uniform interpretation of the organic legislation.

During the Open Dialogue Day, the OPTA members discussed solutions and improvements for several key issues in the organic sector, such as import regulations, supply chain management and dealing with residue cases. To support this dialogue, OPTA had invited independent experts from FiBL, IFOAM and EOCC to share insights and to lead the discussions.

The Open Dialogue Day took place in Ungurpilis, Latvia, at the Headquarters of Aloja- Starkelsen, one of the founding members of OPTA. The Open Dialogue Day follows an earlier workshop organized by OPTA at the Biofach fair in Nuremberg, Germany. These workshops are part of OPTA’s effort to bring together the main players in the organic processing and trade sector to share their expertise. The next OPTA workshop will be held during the SANA exhibition (September 6-9, Bologna, Italy). If you are interested to join this workshop, please contact us at info@opta-eu.org.
